Rural Areas

This site is dedicated to recruiting the right people to work in a variety of posts along side Parish Ministers. Many of these posts involve working within a congregation or group of congregations while others posts have a presbytery-wide remit. If you are looking for information on vacant charges, posts within the central administration of the Church, chaplaincy, locally funded posts and opportunities within CrossReach (the social work arm of the Church of Scotland and the largest care provider in the country), please click on the appropriate link to take you to the relevant pages on the Church of Scotland website.

This dedicated site for the Ministries Council will be used to advertise a wide range of posts in various parts of the country. Some in rural areas, others within Priority Area parishes, all with their own opportunities and challenges. Whatever your gifts and skills, wherever you feel called to serve, we hope that you will find fulfilment as part of our country-wide team of Presbytery and Parish Workers (PPWs).

You might, for instance, be considering an appointment as an Associate Minister, seeking to develop a particular area of your ministry that you have found fulfilling. You may already work with us, but might relish a change of lifestyle or location. You may seek to develop existing gifts, skills and experiences by living out your Christian faith daily in your work for the Church.

This website will help you to navigate your way around the many exciting, challenging and worthwhile posts available throughout Scotland with the Ministries Council.

We look forward to sharing your experience as you seek to discern how you can serve Christ’s church in Scotland.
